More Than 4,000 Sites Set to Come Online; 31 New Parks

The private campground and RV park industry is growing significantly, evidenced by a recent article from Woodall’s Campground Magazine, with over 4,000 new campsites planned across 31 new parks in the U.S. by 2027. These totals are not inclusive of all new RV park construction nationwide, but provide significant indication of growth in the industry.

Key players like Kampgrounds of America, Inc. (KOA) are leading the charge, with 27 campgrounds and at least 4,000 campsites in development. In 2023, KOA signed agreements for nine new campgrounds in states including Florida, Kentucky, and New York. Other companies, such as Blue Water Development, CRR Hospitality, and Sun Outdoors are also driving growth, adding RV sites, park model cabins, yurts, and unique accommodations like floating bungalows.

Glamping and cottage resorts are expanding, with at least seven new developments strengthening the appeal of outdoor travel. Despite challenges from rising costs and inflation, the industry remains committed to providing new options for travelers. Developers and park operators are forging ahead with plans, ensuring continued growth and enhanced outdoor recreation opportunities nationwide.
